This workshop will take you through the complete journey of storytelling, from finding inspiration to crafting stories that stay with your readers long after they’ve finished. You’ll learn how to create memorable characters, structure compelling plots, build tension and pacing, and craft beginnings and endings that resonate.

Across two interactive sessions, you’ll practice techniques to spark creativity, overcome writer’s block, and refine your stories. You’ll also work on essential writing skills like developing a strong narrative voice, showing rather than telling, experimenting with perspective, and using imagery to make your stories vivid and engaging.

By the end, you’ll have the clarity and confidence to bring your ideas to life.

MICHELLE D’COSTA

Editor and Author

Michelle D’Costa enjoys writing, editing, and interviewing writers. Her poetry chapbook ‘Gulf’ was published by Yavanika Press in 2021. Her novel ‘You Envy the Coutinhos’ is forthcoming from Tranquebar, Westland. She is working on her second novel. She is an alumna of the MA in Creative Writing program at the University of Auckland.
