Creative Practice 101:
The Business of Working Independently

A 3-day workshop with Shreevar Chhotaria

Introduction

Building an independent creative practice is one thing. Sustaining it is another.

Running an independent practice means you’re doing more than just creative work. You’re also the one positioning it, pricing it, and ensuring the business behind it actually stays upright.

For most solo professionals, the craft is the easy part. The challenges usually happen everywhere else: finding the right clients, the high-stakes conversations, the shifting scopes, the contracts, and the cash flow. These are the parts we usually figure out through trial and error.

Shreevar Chhotaria has spent years at the intersection of creativity and business, first within organizations and now as an independent creator and consultant. Since building his own practice, he has partnered directly with brands, managed projects end-to-end, and put in place the systems that allow a one-person business to function with the same rigor as a full team.

In this three-day workshop, he turns his focus to the operational side of creative work. You’ll refine how you position yourself, learn how to pitch and land clients, execute strong projects, and put contracts and financial systems in place. The aim is to help you build a practice that is not only creatively, but operationally strong. By the end, you’ll leave with a framework you can begin applying immediately.
