A Day at Our Writers’ Retreat: Learning, Writing, Reflecting

If you’ve never been to a writers’ retreat before, let us do what we do best—use our words to take you inside a day in the life of the Bound Writers’ Retreat.

Mornings begin quietly, with birdsong, warm sunlight streaming into heritage villas, and writers gathering with notebooks and coffee in hand. This isn’t just a getaway—it’s a purposeful pause for writers seeking to grow their craft and reconnect with their creative voice. At this thoughtfully curated writing retreat in India, every element is designed to inspire, guide, and transform.

The day kicks off with an intensive writers’ workshop, led by mentors who bring a wealth of experience to the table. At our last writing retreat, sessions were helmed by acclaimed writers Chandrahas Choudhury and Tashan Mehta, along with Bound’s very own Tara Khandelwal and Aishwarya Javalgekar. Topics ranged from world-building and writing vivid characters to memoir writing and storytelling techniques, offering practical tools and deep insights across genres.

But workshops are just the beginning. Each writer is paired with a mentor for a personalised guidance session, where they receive focused feedback on their work-in-progress. These one-on-one conversations are often the highlight of the retreat—honest, supportive, and tailored to help you elevate your manuscript.

By mid-afternoon, the villa is quiet again, except for the sound of keys clicking and pens gliding. This is the sacred writing time, where retreat participants can fully immerse themselves in their projects without interruptions. It’s part of what makes this a true residential writing retreat in India: time and space to go deep.

Of course, creativity also thrives on inspiration. That’s why our days include curated cultural experiences that offer fresh perspective and connection to place. At our last retreat, held at Island House on Divar Island, writers explored the history of Old Goa on guided walks, discovered the craft of feni tasting, and soaked in the quiet beauty of the island’s lush surroundings.

Evenings are communal and restorative. Writers gather around a shared table for warm, home-style meals and candid conversations. These moments of bonding over food, laughter, and the writing journey are what make The Bound Writers’ Retreat more than just a learning space; they make it a creative home.

Whether you’re preparing your manuscript for publication or simply craving time to write, reflect, and learn, each day at this writing retreat in Goa is designed to nourish every part of your creative process. It’s a space where solitude meets support, and where craft and community come together in the most meaningful way.

Looking ahead to our next writing retreat, we invite you to be part of something truly special!
