Script Writing Fundamentals for OTT Platforms

A 2-day intensive workshop with
Samina Motlekar

Want to write for OTT Platforms? Start by understanding the fundamentals!

Writing a web series involves understanding the format. It is not the same as writing a novel, a film, or a short story. Your idea needs a structure and a premise that flows like a relatable, long-format story that can keep people hooked and binge-watching at 2 AM. If you miss out on these differences, your script will die in someone’s inbox.

Join our two-day screenwriting workshop where you will explore character arc development, ensemble cast dynamics, and story structure exercises. Bring your series idea – comedy, thriller, or drama and develop the premise that grabs attention, characters people want to spend hours with, and story arcs that make sense.

By the end, you’ll have developed your own show bible, complete with premise, characters, story arcs, and episode structure. You will receive real-time feedback and gain hands-on experience in building a series from the ground up.

A: Just your enthusiasm and a notebook! All exercises and materials will be provided.

A: Yes. Each session is interactive with time for Q&A. Samina will also provide feedback during exercises. This isn’t a passive lecture. It’s a working session where you learn by doing.

A: Absolutely. Many novelists adapt their work for the screen or find that understanding screenplay structure improves their prose storytelling. The principles of character motivation, conflict, and pacing translate across formats. Plus, screenwriting teaches you to write lean and visual, which benefits any writer.

A: Sharing is encouraged but not mandatory. The workshop includes a scene-writing exercise where feedback is part of the learning process. However, you can choose to share with just Samina if you prefer. That said, hearing others’ work and feedback is where a lot of the learning happens.
