What do I say about the Bound Story Writing classes? As the Aladdin song goes, it opened a whole new world for me. An extremely well planned and executed workshop. I attended both the Basic and Advanced levels and the insights, tips, readings, activities were all very enriching. For aspiring writers like us, it opens the floodgates and you want to pick up the pen and notepad and start writing as soon as you can. Thank you Michelle for guiding us so well. I would have never imagined that I would sit and dissect a science fiction story someday or write a letter as an unreliable narrator. But I did and thoroughly enjoyed the process. Would love to attend more workshops with Bound in the future.
The most important thing for a young writer is simply getting started. That’s what this class has nudged me to do! Michelle created a non-judgemental, fun atmosphere where I felt comfortable sharing my words and receiving helpful feedback, and felt, most importantly, encouraged, like I should in fact continue writing.

As an aspiring writer, one constantly looks for an invisible guiding hand, for a sense of direction. One desires to get trained in techniques and tips on the nuances of writing. This program does all that, but what it does best is to instil faith in one as a writer - not every program can claim to do that. With benevolent nudging, constructive feedback, and an open-minded cohort, one feels inspired. The camaraderie one enjoys with the rest of the cohort gives rise to a safe space where young writers feel like they have finally found their ilk.
What I loved about Bound's two-week fiction course - Michelle is friendly, kind and extremely encouraging. She created a safe space where writers could read out their work and get useful feedback on their pieces. It was nice getting lost for 8 hours in the world of writing, reading with other like-minded people. I hope to do more classes and better my work and I am glad I found such a wonderful community in Bound.
Michelle's class was a welcome spell for me especially during the time I was facing severe writer's block. I learnt how to structure my work, analyse stories and the book recommendations were excellent. I also got to learn a lot from my talented peers.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class conducted by Michelle. She was really encouraging and patient with us. It was my first time writing fiction but she put me at ease by breaking down the process beautifully. The most interesting parts of the class for me were the explanation of topics using published stories followed by writing exercises which allowed us to put that learning to use. For example, the skill of showing vs telling. Thank you for putting this course together. Look forward to participating in many more. I also appreciate the format and duration of the program as it was easy for me to accommodate it during my working hours.
